What we collect, and when
When you download the prospectus or the accreditation and insurance guide
Your email address, and your first name if you give it. We use these to send you the document and to answer any questions about it.
When you tick the marketing box
We add your email to our mailing list so we can send you occasional updates about courses, enrolment dates and equine intimate health guidance. Ticking that box is entirely optional, and you will still receive the document if you leave it unticked.
When you enquire or contact us
Your name, email address, and whatever you choose to tell us in your message.
When you book a service for your horse
Your name, contact details, address or yard location, and details of your horse. Bookings are handled through our booking system, YardLoop. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
When you enrol on a course
The information needed to register you as a learner, deliver the course, and submit you for assessment and accreditation with UK Rural Skills.
When you visit the website
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are read most. This tells us about visitor numbers and behaviour, not who you personally are.
If you accept advertising cookies, we also use a Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure how well our adverts work. It tells us that someone who saw an advert went on to visit the site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |

| Deliver a service or course you booked | Performance of a contract |

Marketing, and how to stop it
You will only receive marketing emails if you asked for them, or if you are an existing customer and we are telling you about something closely related to what you already had from us.
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email admin@harris-equine.co.uk and we will remove you. There is no penalty, and it will not affect any course or service you have with us.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
We use a small number of trusted suppliers who process data on our behalf: Squarespace (website and forms), YardLoop (bookings), Stripe (payments), Google (analytics), Meta (advertising measurement), and our email provider. Each is bound to use your information only as instructed by us.
Where a course leads to accreditation, we share the details necessary to register and certify you with UK Rural Skills. Where you choose to apply for practitioner insurance you deal with KBIS directly, and any information you give them is covered by their own privacy notice.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and document downloads: 2 years from our last contact with you
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe. We review the list periodically and remove people who have not opened anything in a long time
- Booking and service records: 6 years, which is the period we need for accounting
- Learner and assessment records: as long as UK Rural Skills requires them for certification, then deleted
Your rights
You have the right to ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop or limit how we use it
- send it to another provider
- stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests
Email admin@harris-equine.co.uk. We will reply within one month, and there is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
